While individual action can certainly make things better it won't be enough. Systemic changes to our economy and almost every business model now operating will be required and that means we will have to revise how our government and society now functions if we are to save ourselves and future generations.

The fact that "infrastructure" funding is weighted toward fixing roads and barely touches mass transit or alternatives to personal vehicles is more than telling of how little our government actually believes or understands the threat we face. We can't realistically expect to elect neoliberals to leadership of our economy and expect anything other than "market" solutions. It is the "market" solutions that got us where we are and the odds of such "solutions" helping are similar to those of a snowball's chance in - - well, just about anywhere now.
