While we agree in principal that government spending on the public purpose must increase I must disagree on the use of the false concept of deficit=bad. We cannot win arguments that are framed in the language of the opposition, even if that language is falsely considered common knowledge.

Deficit and debt are simply accounting entities that enable tracking of money that can only be created by Congress, not actual debts the taxpayers are on the hook for. They represent the dollars in circulation, including the holdings of the wealthy donor class that has purchased our government and media, that haven't been cancelled/recalled via taxation or bonds.

When the federal government refuses to fund the economy via money creation the people are forced into private debt, and that "IS" a debt that must be repaid. Only money created by Congress can retire private debt, so the reluctance of the political class to honor its mandate in the constitution to create money "for the public welfare" becomes doubly dangerous.

We should tax the wealthy more and spend less on our imperialistic military, but neither is a prerequisite to Congress spending to provide fiscal security to working class Americans. There is nothing that is available and priced in US dollars that Congress cannot "afford", regardless of its past spending or revenue. We must unlink spending and taxation in the mind of the average voter before they will hold their representatives responsible.

That cannot be accomplished as long as we use the false logic of household budgeting in relation to federal spending. It may feel like one is striking a blow against the ruling class, but it only plays into their favor to do so.
