You have pointed out the serious problems with a consumer-based economy in any country that lacks the political resolve to properly regulate business and create new governmental entities where profit potential is not possible, or desirable. America is the shining example of this, as many critical markets lack government oversight in favor of maximizing profits (healthcare, insurance, energy?), even to the extreme detriment to the safety and security of the population. This, by any definition applicable, is fascism.

Given that breaking away from this fascist influence is no longer possible via the democratic process, (The fascist leadership makes sure that any candidates able to hinder their ambitions are not able to attain political viability by withholding the massive funding necessary while manipulating their fully owned and controlled media in opposition) the only hope Americans have lies in a potential rogue leader breaking from the establishment's control (Trump 2016?) or in full on armed overthrow of the fascist government by the citizenry (Jan 6th?).

As conditions for economic survival worsen for the populace the appeal of authoritarians increases, as we see now in the popularity of such up-and-comers in the GOP political landscape. Not understanding the underlying relationship between their economic well-being and their currency-issuing government, the people are prone to casting blame at any entity that they view as having undeserved influence, but only when those blamed are of lower economic stature.

The need to identify with those of higher stature only gets stronger when economic survival is threatened, which is why those who are actually responsible for the threat are vaunted as "job creators" while the lowly, most victimized, among us are vilified as "takers/eaters". I don't presently see us possibly escaping the inevitable bloody revolution our species uses to reset the balance all too frequently. I'm also quite sure that the fascist leadership has similar projections in mind, as they seem to be accelerating the potential for such at every turn. If it happens in the present political reality it will spell the end of democracy, perhaps forever.
